Rado is a watch manufacturing company of Switzerland. It is well known for its use of scratch-proof materials in their watches. It was established in 1917 under the name Schlup & Co. and initially was concerned with making only watch movements. It was not until 1957 that the company launched their own collection and branded them as Rado. They released the world's first scratch-proof watch in 1962 called the Rado Diastar. Rado joined SMH group in 1983; SMH was later renamed to Swatch Group in 1998. The unique feature of Rado watches is that they have attractive designs and different materials are used to make the watch like ceramics, sapphire crystal, lanthanum, tungsten-carbide and titanium-carbide.
